I love that word. For me, it conjures up so many memories. I'm taken back to the laughter-filled-family-room of my childhood home; I'm taken back to the humid summer days of the South; I imagine a hot cup of coffee on a Saturday morning with my beautiful wife, Amber sitting across from me, as our 3 beautiful kids joyfully run rampant through the house; I picture myself in the family room of my current home, curled up in front of the fire with Amber on a cold winter's night.
Home. We want it. Need it. Crave it.
In Jesus, God brought us back to our true Home. His Home. Where we've always belonged. Every human heart was made to live in an awareness of the comfort and joy afforded to us in this glorious Place.
Our journey now is discovering how things work in this New and True Home. How does Father treat us? How do we do relationships Here? How do we talk to one another? How do we live a life free of shame? How do we carry ourselves here? How do we work here? How do we relax here?
I think this is what Jesus was inviting us to when He said,
We were made to live a life of sustained peace and rest. We weren't made to live with chronic stress. Many of us live our lives as a series of highs and lows...and certainly, life does have both of those. But, it seems that unless we take charge of our own stories and start living on purpose, we can find ourselves feeling like life is happening to us, instead of feeling like we are co-authoring our stories with our Father.
Part of discovering our new Home is discovering its pace of life. There is a beautiful rhythm Here. A rhythm where we live, work, rest, relax, and experience everyday life from a full heart. A way of living that isn't informed by what-we-think-we-should-do, but instead by what-we-truly-desire-to-do.
Rhythms of Home exists to help you discover what this looks like for you and to give you tools to start living it out with ever increasing joy and splendor.
